Early in Kiwanis, service to others was a prominent force. Especially important were our children. It continues to this day in the 1990-91 Major Emphasis Program that is so important it was extended indefinitelyYoung Children: Priority One. From this theme arose Kiwanis’ first Worldwide Service Project to eliminate Iodine Deficiency Disorder (IDD), the leading cause of preventable retardation.
